And Convenience For Patients
Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery And Non-Surgical
Therapeutic Injections Available In One Location

Carolina Center For Specialty Surgery, a joint effort between Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates and Carolinas Medical Center, offers a convenient, comfortable and safe alternative to having surgery at a hospital. This new facility, located at 1822 Brunswick Avenue in Charlotte, was designed specifically for elective outpatient and ambulatory surgical procedures. It combines advanced medical technology and a relaxed environment. The staff includes experienced, well-trained nurses and technicians, and some of the most highly skilled surgeons in the region.

The surgical care offered at Carolina Center For Specialty Surgery is complemented by a pre-operative patient care center and a post-anesthesia care unit. There is easy access to parking and a spacious waiting area is available for a patient’s family members and loved ones. Patients are always greeted by our friendly staff and treated with the utmost respect.

Non-Surgical Treatment
Within the walls of Carolina Center For Specialty Surgery is a state-of-the-art procedure room used for advanced diagnostic and therapeutic spinal injections. These rooms allow for advanced non-surgical spinal care for the patients of Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates. Common procedures include cervical and lumbar epidural injections, nerve root blocks, sacroiliac and facet injections. These procedures, used by our team of Physical Medicine physicians in the holistic care of non-surgical patients, provide powerful pain and inflammation reduction so that prescribed rehabilitation programs initiated at Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates are more effective. These injections are carried out in a comfortable environment with outstanding radiology and nursing personnel.

Patients Benefit From Continuity Of Care
Carolina Center For Specialty Surgery allows for a more comprehensive level of care where physicians from Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates can oversee every aspect of treatment. Sandy Woford is a prime example of how patients benefit from this new facility.

Sandy Woford found relief with spinal injections performed at Carolina Center For Specialty Surgery.
After three years of suffering from continual back pain, Sandy sought the help of physiatrist John Welshofer, M.D., of Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates. Sandy had tried exercise and anti-inflammatory medications with limited success. After an MRI was performed at our practice, it was determined that severe spinal stenosis was causing a pinched nerve in his spine. Sandy chose to treat his condition without surgery and has undergone therapeutic spinal injections performed at Carolina Center For Specialty Surgery.

“The surgery center is fantastic,” said Sandy. “Everyone there is really friendly and I’m able to get in and out very quickly.”

After his second injection Sandy reported significant improvement in pain. If non-surgical treatment does not deliver the long-term relief he seeks, he also has access to the experienced neurosurgical team at Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates.
