Nonsurgical Spine Care Options Grow With Addition Of Newest Physiatrist
Sanjiv Lakhia, DO, Joins Ballantyne & Rock Hill Offices
Sanjiv Lakhia, DO

At Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates, our goal is to help patients receive effective treatment and avoid spine surgery when possible. In fact, more than half our patients find pain relief without any type of spine surgery. Our team of physiatrists is the focal point of our nonsurgical care. They utilize electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) testing to diagnose nerve and muscle disorders, prescribe physical therapy, and provide therapeutic spine injections.

In addition to our current nonsurgical treatments, our newest physiatrist, Sanjiv Lakhia, DO, brings expertise in medical acupuncture and osteopathic manipulation that were not previously available at our practice. He also specializes in the treatment and management of sports-related concussions.

"Some patients are desperate for pain relief but do not like the idea of taking strong pain medications. I have found medical acupuncture to be a very effective alternative in many cases," said Dr. Lakhia.

Prior to joining our Ballantyne and Rock Hill offices, Dr. Lakhia was director of the musculoskeletal department with Group Health in Ohio and a board member with Trihealth Orthopedic and Spine
Institute.

He is certified by both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) and the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM). Dr. Lakhia completed his residency at the Charlotte Institute of Rehabilitation and is a graduate of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
