The Congress of Neurological Surgeons named a published paper co-authored by Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates neurosurgeon Matthew McGirt, MD, as Paper of the Year for 2018-2019 in the Socioeconomics, Health Policy and Law section. The paper, “Drivers of Variability in 90-Day Cost for Elective Laminectomy and Fusion for Lumbar Degenerative Disease,” demonstrates that considerable cost variation exists, but there is potential to reduce cost and increase the value of care.
