Recognizing our Physical Therapy Team!
October is Physical Therapy Awareness Month! We are proud to offer on-site physical therapy services at our Ballantyne, Charlotte, Concord, Huntersville, Matthews, and Rock Hill offices, focused on improving patient recovery and rehabilitation. Our team of licensed physical therapists work together with our physiatrists, neurosurgeons, and neurologist to review patient progress, develop treatment plans, and share insight for optimal patient care.
In honor of Physical Therapy Awareness Month, we asked our physical therapists across locations to complete the following statements to learn the "why" behind their passion, skill and purpose!
- I became a physical therapist because…
- My patients inspire me because…
- If I could tell every one of my patients one piece of advice it would be to…
- I love being a physical therapist at Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates (CNSA) because…
I became a physical therapist because…
“I want to make a positive impact in each patient's individual health care journeys, whether big or small.” -Madison Domico, PT, DPT in Rock Hill, SC

“I wanted to improve patients' quality of life.” - Jake Beamon, PTA in Concord, NC

“Of my belief in the benefits of exercise and movement.” - Matthew Oberst, PT, DPT in Huntersville, NC
My patients inspire me because…
“They work so hard, overcoming so many obstacles and improving their quality of life. Our patients' dedication is what makes our work so fulfilling.” - Tanner Holden, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS and Manager in Rock Hill, SC
“They do the work! We offer the right guidance, and a little direction, driving our patients to get better. That combination takes them where they need to be.” - Kris Mirshahi, PTA in Charlotte, NC
“Their commitment to bettering their health through physical therapy. I find that their drive results in me working harder to provide them them the best treatments possible.” - Jake Beamon, PTA in Concord, NC
“My patients inspire me because they are often resilient and hard-working and appreciate the effort we put forth towards their recovery. I am very much inspired by their life experiences and their will power to remain active members of their communities.” - Jay Murugavel, PT in Ballantyne, NC
“My patients inspire me because of their drive to better themselves.” - Matthew Oberst, PT, DPT in Huntersville, NC
If I could tell every one of my patients one piece of advice it would be to…
“Exercise as often as you brush your teeth! Try to move daily, and prioritize taking good care of your body!” - Zina Felecan, PTA in Rock Hill, SC
"BREATHE! Most people don’t realize they are holding their breath throughout the day. And most people cannot inhale or exhale fully! They can directly affect their posture and mobility through mindful breathing." - Megan Beamon, PTA in Charlotte, NC
“Always warm up and stretch before any physical hobby or activity, and yes, this includes golf!” - Jake Beamon, PTA in Concord, NC
"Don't let pain control your life. Pain does not mean tissue damage, stay fit and keep active. Prioritize a resilient spine, making recovery and wellness paramount in your daily routines. A peaceful mind leads to a healthy spine. Sleep well to heal well. Avoid hurry, worry and curry to recover well. - Jay Murugavel, PT and Manager in Ballantyne, NC
“KEEP MOVING! Movement is what our bodies need and it’s much easier to maintain your mobility and strength with any kind of motion – even the small stuff counts!” - Heather Baczynski, PTA Huntersville, NC
I love being a physical therapist at CNSA because…
“I get to be part of a well-connected, and talented team of clinicians, to include physicians, nurses, and of course the patients.” - Madison Domico, PT, DPT in Rock Hill, SC
“We provide one-on-one patient care. We find this much more effective than seeing multiple people at one time – our patients also agree.” - Megan Beamon, PTA in Charlotte, NC
“We provide one-on-one sessions here, which allows us to provide high quality care. It is rare to find a clinic that provides one-on-one PT sessions, as most will see 2-4 patients simultaneously. In that situation, the patient feels like they are just a “number” and doesn't get the personalized care I feel they deserve!” - Summer Duffee, PTA in Concord, NC
“Here we offer the best collaborative spine care and values innovation and utilizes the recent advances in spine care.” - Jay Murugavel, PT and Manager in Ballantyne, NC
“The one-on-one care we get to provide, as most PT practices double or triple book patients.” - Matthew Oberst, PT, DPT in Huntersville, NC
